Observing Memorial Day 2011
Andrea Stewart-Cousins
June 6, 2011

In observance of Memorial Day 2011, the Senator honored our fallen veterans at ceremonies and parades throughout her district. She began the day in downtown Yonkers at the annual Memorial Day Ceremony at the Veterans Memorial on South Broadway, which was led by the Yonkers Central Committee of Veterans. She then headed to Valhalla where she joined American Legion Post 1038 for their annual ceremony and parade from West Lake Drive down Columbus Avenue to Cedar Street. Later in the day, she joined the Catholic Slovak Club and the Yonkers VFW, for their Memorial Day services. The Senator said that it is important to honor members of our armed forces, particularly those who have fought and died to preserve our freedoms and way of life.
