Senator David Carlucci Being Sworn in to the New York State Senate

Senator Carlucci Officially Sworn In

as Senator for the 38^th District

(Albany, NY) On Wednesday, January 5, 2011, Senator David Carlucci (D-Rockland) was officially sworn in on the Senate Chamber floor in Albany, making him the youngest member of the New York State Senate.

“I am thrilled and honored to have been sworn in today and to have the opportunity to serve the people of the 38^th district.  I won this seat on a platform of reform and I am eager to begin working with members of the legislative and executive branches to turn this state around,” Senator Carlucci said.  “Elected officials are not voted into office to serve themselves, I vowed when I ran to place people above politics and that is what I intend to do.”

“Reining in property taxes and creating jobs is a top priority as well,” Senator Carlucci said.  “New Yorkers are being crushed by the highest taxes in the nation and in many cases being forced out of their home state for financial reasons.  This cannot continue to be the trend and I am thankful to have the opportunity to fight for the people of my district.”

Senator David Carlucci defeated Rockland County Executive C. Scott Vanderhoef to fill the Senate seat previously held by the late Senator Thomas P. Morahan (R).
