On Thursday, February 24th, Senator Robach attended a ceremony where North Chili resident Gerald Wolters was presented a Purple Heart by United States Senator Charles Schumer. The event took place at the Blue Cross Area at the Rochester War Memorial. Wolters, a corporal in the Army and deployed to Korea, was seriously injured and then captured on December 1, 1950. He was held as a prisoner of war for more than 2 and a half years. He was released and discharged from the Army on October 12, 1953.
