SENATOR STEVE SALAND PRESENTS CITATION TO ERIC OOMS

Senator Steve Saland presented a Citation honoring distinquished community agri-business leader Eric Ooms during the Annual President's Award Breakfast at Columbia-Greene Community College on November 4, 2011. 

Ooms is a partner in the family owned A. Ooms & Sons, a 450-cow dairy farm in Chatham.  He is vice president of the New York Farm Bureau, for which he has served for the past 15 years, including 10 years as a Columbia County Farm Bureau president.  Ooms is a member of the Chatham Agricultural Partnership and a board member of the Hudson Valley Agri-Business Development Corporation.  He has testified on behalf of farmers at every level of government, from the town level to the state Legislature to the U.S. Congress.  He was legislative director for the States Ratification Committee in Alexandria, VA, in 2001.  Ooms is a 2001 graduate of Columbia-Greene Community College.  He lives in Chatham with his wife, Catherine Joy and their two young children, Arend and Grace. 

Columbia-Greene Community College President James Campion also honored Andy Turner from Greene County during his annual awards breakfast. Attendees included state and county govenment officials and members of the local business communities as well as college trustees, faculty and staff.
