(Albany - June 14th) Senator Stewart-Cousins supported Freshman Senator Todd Kaminsky as he held a press conference to bring Bill S. 7632 to the Senate floor this session. This bill relates to the annual teacher and principal evaluations during the especially critical time when the Board of Regents is transitioning to a new system.
“It is very clear that the Senate Democrats have stood at the forefront of fighting for education funding and making sure that our children—no matter where they are – have the resources they need,” avowed Senator Stewart-Cousins.
The Senate Democratic Conference expressed disapproval for the current system that ties school funding to an evaluation system yet to be refined. This, in turn, punishes hundreds of schools all over the state. With the support of the whole Democratic Conference, including Senator George Latimer, a Democratic Ranking Member on the Senate Education Committee, Leader Andrea Stewart-Cousins continues to fight for the equality in our children’s education.
