Resilience and Vigilance

The resilience and vigilance of residents of New York and New Jersey has been on display yesterday and today in the face of the bombing in Chelsea and the discovery of explosive devices in the New Jersey communities of Seaside Park and Elizabeth. Thankfully, the bomb that did explode caused no fatalities. I salute the work of investigators, first responders, and the members of the public who have already contributed to our safety.
Now, it remains critical to continue to follow the instructions of law enforcement as they pursue their inquiries – 1 800 577 TIPS is the number to reach out with information. We must also continue to demonstrate that we will not be intimidated in the face of attempts to harm innocents. As in the past, we will pull together and show that we stand together in the face of these heinous attacks. Rest assured that everyone responsible for public safety is on high alert in Brooklyn, from school safety officers to the FBI.
