Legislation to Allow the City of New York to Continue to Purchase Water Agriculture Easements Signed Into Law
November 29, 2016
(Middletown, NY)- State Senator John J. Bonacic (R/C/I-Mt. Hope) announced today that legislation he sponsored (S.6546A) that would allow the City of New York to continue to purchase water agricultural easements at a taxable rate has been signed into law by Governor Cuomo.
This legislation was introduced with the support of the Coalition of Watershed Towns to authorize a continuation of the ability of New York City to purchase conservation easements on the condition that the easements remain taxable.
“Allowing water agricultural easements to remain taxable helps the County of Delaware continue to collect revenue, while also allowing the City of New York to maintain its ability to purchase these easements,” said Senator Bonacic.
