Senator Bonacic Announces $50,000 Grant for the Town of Colchester to Help with the Purchase of Water Filtration System for the Downsville Water District

(Middletown, NY)-State Senator John J. Bonacic (R/C/I-Mt. Hope) is pleased to announce that he has secured a $50,000 grant for the Town of Colchester to help with the purchase of a water filtration system for the Downsville Water District. The grant was secured through the State Municipal Grant Program, which was funded in the Fiscal Year 2015-2016 State Budget. Currently, the Town of Colchester is using water solely from its well to service its residents. The addition of a filtration system would allow the Town to service its residents with fresh spring water, and allow the well water to serve as a secondary source. The Town does not currently have a secondary source, which is required by the Department of Health.
“I’m pleased to have been able to secure this grant for the Town of Colchester,” said Senator Bonacic. “Not only will this water filtration system provide the residents with fresh spring water, it will save the taxpayer’s money.”
“Once again, Senator Bonacic has been extremely helpful to our community. The grant of $50,000 for our spring water filtration system here in Downsville will be a great benefit to all our residents. We are very appreciative of his continued support,” said Town of Colchester Supervisor Arthur Merrill.
