'Officials Break Ground on New 161 Room Hotel at Tioga Downs' ~ Read and Watch More

Senator O'Mara praised the economic and charitable contributions that Tioga Downs has made and will continue to make to communities and organizations across the Southern Tier. It's estimated, for example, that Tioga Downs accounts for $32 million in taxes annually, $25 million of which goes to support local schools and reduce the burden on local property taxpayers.

Nichols, N.Y., September 6--State Senator Tom O'Mara (R,C,I-Big Flats) today joined several of his legislative colleagues including Assemblyman Chris Friend (R,C,I-Big Flats), Senator Fred Akshar (R-), and Assemblywoman Donna Lupardo (D-Endwell), as well as other state and local leaders for the official Groundbreaking Ceremony for a new, 161-room hotel at Tioga Downs.

O'Mara welcomed the occasion to wish Tioga Downs owner Jeff Gural good luck and to praise the economic and charitable contributions that Tioga Downs has always made and will continue to make to communities and organizations across the Southern Tier. It's estimated, for example, that Tioga Downs accounts for $32 million in taxes annually, $25 million of which goes to support local schools and reduce the burden on local property taxpayers.

"There are payments being made to surrounding municipalities, Chemung County included, Broome County included and even a greater circle than that, that's going help support and offset the property tax burden in those communities," said O'Mara.
