Senator Bonacic Announces $50,000 Grant for the Village of Jeffersonville
April 19, 2017
(Albany, NY)- State Senator John J. Bonacic (R/C/I-Mt. Hope) is pleased to announce the Village of Jeffersonville has been awarded a $50,000 grant to help with repairs to the Mill Street walk bridge. The funding was made available through the State and Municipal Facilities Program, money for which was appropriated in the 2016-2017 State Budget.
Currently, the Village owns and maintains a pedestrian bridge over Callicoon Creek on Mill Street. The bridge is a truss bridge, constructed from welded steel members with a wooden deck. The bridge is approximately 13 years old and is need of repair. With the grant funding, the Village can repair the bridge and ensure the safety of the pedestrians who travel across it.
“This grant will help ensure the safety of all the pedestrians in the Village of Jeffersonville,” said Senator Bonacic. “In addition, this grant will save the Village taxpayers money.”
Said Village of Jeffersonville Mayor William Thony, “I thank Senator Bonacic for his advocacy on behalf of the residents of the Village of Jeffersonville. This grant will allow us to make necessary repairs to our Mill Street walk bridge, and provide a bridge to the future for our residents.”
