April 27, 2017

(Albany, NY)-State Senator John J. Bonacic announced today that the Town of Fremont has been awarded a $75,000 grant for the construction of a storage building for the Town’s Highway Department. The grant is part of the State Municipal Facilities Program, funding for which was secured in the 2016-2017 State Budget.
With the funding, the Town plans to build a 36’ by 60’ storage facility that will store equipment and supplies use by the High Department for road maintenance, snow removal, grass, weed and ditch trimming, paving and grading, street sweeping, and many other functions. Currently, all of the Town’s equipment are left outdoors. Once complete, the building will meet the NYS Energy Conservation Construction Code.
“I’m pleased to have worked with the Town of Fremont to help secure this grant that will improve operations at the Highway Department,” said Senator Bonacic. “In addition, this grant will have an added bonus of saving the Town taxpayers money.”
Said Town of Fremont Supervisor George Conklin, "This $75,000 grant will improve the operations of our Town Highway Department by providing a place to house and store our equipment. I thank Senator Bonacic for his continued advocacy on behalf of the taxpayers in the Town of Fremont"
