Dear Neighbors,

On Tuesday, February 27, my Millennial Task Force launched a donation drive for the Rikers Youth Defenders Program through its “Find Your Voice” art showcase which featured contributions by high school students from Wadleigh Secondary School for the Performing & Visual Arts.

The Rikers Youth Defenders Program serves young people between the ages of 16 and 18 years old. Through March 30, our Millennial Task Force will be collecting the following items from community members for youth in this program:

For males: Plain white t-shirts (short sleeve and not sleeveless), white boxers, and white socks.
For females: Plain white sports bras (no wires), white briefs, and white socks.
The need for mediums is greatest, but we will also accept some smalls and larges. In order to distribute the items, donations must be provided in their original packaging.

If you would like to contribute, please drop these items off at my office during regular business hours, 9am-5pm Monday-Friday, at the Adam Clayton Powell, Jr. State Office Building, which is located at 163 West 125th Street, Suite 912, New York, NY 10027.   The office will also have extended drop-off hours on March 6, March 7, March 15, March 16, and March 30 from 10am-7pm.

For more info, please reach out to Luther D. Isler at 212.222.7315 or isler@nysenate.gov.Please spread the word to your friends and neighbors!
