Check out what New York State Senator Roxanne J. Persaud has been up to in and around her district, Senate District 19, and Albany during April 2019.
- On April 1, Senator Persaud announced the passage of the Fiscal Year 2019-20 New York State Budget, reflecting on the process and disclosing her final thoughts as well as highlighting certain components of the $175 billion deal.
- On April 4, Senator Persaud dropped by Mill Basin Civic Association's installation ceremony of their new board members.
- On April 5, Senator Persaud participated in Kings Bay Y in Sheepshead Bay's annual Passover Food Distribution, courtesy of the Metropolitan Council on Jewish Poverty.
- On April 6, Senator Persaud helped Nostrand Housing in Sheepshead Bay and the Youth Leadership Committee with their Clean Up Day.
- On April 7, Senator Persaud attended My Time Inc's 11th annual Breakfast With the Chefs in Sheepshead Bay.
- On April 7, Senator Persaud joined hundreds of residents at the Pre-Passover Holiday Market in Starrett City, hosted by the Metropolitan Council's Kosher Food Network, JCC of Canarsie and City Harvest.
- On April 7, Senator Persaud stopped by JASA Senior Center at HES' 34th anniversary celebration in Canarsie to congratulate program director Sue Ann Partnow and her team.
- On April 8, Senator Persaud met with the American Council of the Blind in Albany to discuss her legislation Bill S4695, which would help protect blind and partially blind people.
- April 9 is Yellow Ribbon Day; it is a symbol of support for service members and Prisoners of War/Missing in Action. Senator Persaud wore hers, promoting unity and respect for the brave troops of the U.S. military.
- Each year, Senator Persaud invites the women of the Bangladeshi American Advocacy Group to visit her; and they accepted this year. The BAAG met with the Senator on April 9 in Albany, where they also advocated for women's rights.
- On April 12, Senator Persaud spoke with the students of JHS 292 Margaret S. Douglas and answered their well-thought-out questions.
- This year's annual Senate District 19 Easter Egg Hunt was held on April 13. Senator Persaud, her staff and several partnering organizations and volunteers were joined at Canarsie Park by hundreds of families and children who collected 5,000 colored eggs. Also, throughout the day, guests enjoyed fun activities, snacked on assorted treats, received free giveaways and took their picture with as well as hugged the two Easter Bunnies who made a surprise appearance.
- On April 17, Senator Persaud met with the University City team to discuss their project Grow Brownsville. They discussed the plan — bring locally grown food to underserved communities via aquaponic farming — and the Senator was given a site visit.
- On , April 17, Senator Persaud presented a New York State Resolution for Teaching Excellence to Ms. Jasmine Rogers from Brooklyn Scholars Charter School.
