Senator Velmanette Montgomery Welcomes the Response from the Public Service Commission Chair John B. Rhodes Regarding National Grid denials in Brooklyn
October 2, 2019
Public Service Commission Chair John B. Rhodes responses to Senator Velmanette Montgomery and the Brooklyn Delegation's letter regarding the need for the commission to look into the business practices of National Grid as they deny many Brooklynites natural gas services.
As the Public Service Commission has previously opened an investigation of Consolidated Edison's moratorium of services in Westchester County, in his letter the Chair has announced that the investigation will be opened up to the downstate area to cover Westchester County, the five Boroughs of New York City, and Long island.
The Public Service Commission has dispatched a consultant to look into the natural gas supply and demand of the region, with the intention of flushing out whether the moratoriums placed by National Grid and Consolidated Edison on the respective Downstate Region were appropiate in balancing the needs of consumers and the environment.
