A record number of New Yorkers have health insurance, but 4.7% remain uninsured during the COVID-19 pandemic. In response, the New York State Department of Health (NYSDOH) has opened a special enrollment period that will conclude on April 15. Eligible New Yorkers and their families currently not insured, can visit NY State of Health, or call (855) 355-5777, to find affordable health plans that suit their needs. Plan enrollments completed during the special enrollment period will be effective April 1, 2020.
As directed by the governor, cost-sharing for COVID-19 testing has been waived by all New York State insurers. For more information regarding COVID-19 visit the New York State Senate article, Coronavirus Response and Prevention.
