The state Department of Labor has experienced an unprecedented increase in unemployment claims related to the Coronavirus pandemic. It is significantly increasing staff and website capacity to meet demands. The claims process has been streamlined to reduce the number of steps needed to connect eligible New Yorkers to benefits, including unemployment and pandemic unemployment assistance (PUA).
The Department of Labor’s online application system remains the best way to apply, but call center hours have also been expanded to 7 days a week from 7:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. to meet increased demand. For more information, visit the Department of Labor website.
- If you have not yet applied, file a new claim.
- If you have an unfinished application, the Department of Labor will contact you.
- To reach the telephone claim center, call (888) 209-8124.
