“As a State Senator who represents many families of 9/11 victims, the decision to cancel the annual ‘Tribute in Light’ is no doubt disappointing to their spouses, parents, and children who look forward to this simple yet consequential gesture each year.
“I contracted COVID-19 and was seriously ill for 12 days. I fully appreciate the need to continue prioritizing the public’s health. Caution and precaution are paramount. The ‘Tribute in Light,’ however, should pose no safety risk; my staff and I stand ready to assist in whatever way is necessary to keep these meaningful lights on.
“I implore the 9/11 Memorial and Museum to find a way forward to keep this tradition alive.”
