July 3, 2020 - Community Update Letter
Senator Kevin Thomas
July 3, 2020
Dear Neighbor,
Independence Day is about celebrating life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. While COVID-19 may be changing how we celebrate this weekend, we can still commemorate this important day in our nation's history safely.
Under guidance from New York State, Nassau County is making important progress implementing critical safety protocols that have allowed us to re-open local businesses and parks while keeping our community safe. As COVID-19 hospitalizations in Nassau County decline, let's continue to practice social distancing and use caution this holiday weekend so that our communities can safely continue on the path to a full reopening.
If you and your family are planning on visiting one of Long Island’s many beaches and parks this weekend, please take note of local guidelines for reduced capacity and social distancing. The status of all Nassau County Parks can be accessed at https://www.nassaucountyny.gov/1767/Parks-Recreation-Museums. Realtime parking updates for state beaches are available at https://parks.ny.gov/.
As we navigate this recovery period and the phased reopening of New York State, know that my staff and I are here to help. If you need assistance, please reach out by calling 516-739-1700 or emailing thomas@nysenate.gov. Below, you can find a list of resources linking to State Guidelines and other important information to help you celebrate safely.
I wish you and your family a happy, safe 4th of July!
Sincerely,
Senator Kevin Thomas
