Statement From Senate Republican Leader Rob Ortt On Final District Maps

Today marks a victory for New Yorkers. I thank Judge McAllister and Special Master, Jonathan Cervas, for their good, honest work to provide fair, independent district maps.

From the beginning of this process, Albany politicians engaged in partisan politics and obvious gerrymandering, violating the State Constitution. Despite a clear directive from the voters, Albany’s ruling class decided to put their political survival ahead of the will of the people.  

Now, we can look forward and I’m confident both in the slate of candidates prepared to join the Senate Republican Conference and New Yorkers who will make their voices heard at the ballot box this November. We must restore balance and common sense to state government and vigorously reject the extreme policies of One Party Rule.
