Copiague Youth Leagues Receive State Grant From Senator Fuschillo
The Copiague Youth Leagues have been selected to receive a $5,000 state grant to help fund their programs, thanks to the efforts of Senator Charles J. Fuschillo, Jr. (8th Senate District).
"Copiague Youth Leagues give young athletes a place to play the games they love and develop their athletic talents and passion for sports. However, the kids also learn the value of teamwork, fair play, and sportsmanship. These skills will help them both on the playing field and throughout their lives," said Senator Fuschillo. "Working together, we have made sure that the children of Copiague will be able to continue to take advantage of these wonderful programs."
Founded in 1958, Copiague Youth Leagues is a nonprofit organization run solely by unsalaried volunteers. They offer programs in baseball, softball, soccer, basketball, football, cheerleading, and lacrosse. Each year, approximately 2,500 children participate in at least one of the sports offered by the Copiague Youth Leagues.
"On behalf of the many families who utilize our programs, we thank Senator Fuschillo for his continued support and for providing this grant funding," stated Mickey Kane, President of Copiague Youth Leagues. "Our ongoing partnership has greatly benefited all the children of Copiague."
