Merrick-bellmore Community Concert Association Receives State Grant From Senator Fuschillo
Senator Charles J. Fuschillo, Jr. (8th Senate District) has announced that he secured $5,000 in state grant funding for the Merrick-Bellmore Community Concert Association. The grant will help the association fund its operational expenses.
The Merrick-Bellmore Community Concert Association is a nonprofit group that presents a series of instrumental and vocal concerts, as well as dance performances, to local residents at a low cost. The Merrick-Bellmore Community Concert Association recently celebrated its 51st anniversary, and has approximately 800 members from Merrick, Bellmore, Wantagh, and the surrounding communities.
"The Merrick-Bellmore Community Concert Association is thrilled to receive this $5,000 grant from Senator Fuschillo," said Barbara Turchin, President of the Merrick-Bellmore Community Concert Association. "For 51 years our nonprofit, all-volunteer organization has brought outstanding performing artists from around the world to our local communities at a nominal price. However, in the face of ever-increasing costs, our organization was put in jeopardy. Senator Fuschillo's support will not only allow us to continue but also to extend our efforts to students through outreach activities."
"The great thing about the Merrick-Bellmore Community Concert Association is that it brings a wide variety of musical and dance performances right into our community, making it extremely convenient for our residents to attend some really great shows," stated Senator Fuschillo. "I am pleased to help the Merrick-Bellmore Community Concert Association continue presenting these programs by securing this grant funding."
