Senator Fuschillo Congratulates Lindenhurst Students On Completing His Summertime Reading Program
Senator Charles J. Fuschillo, Jr. (8th Senate District) recently visited with first and second graders from Albany Avenue Elementary School in Lindenhurst to congratulate them on completing his Summertime Reading Program.
"Reading is an extremely important part of a child’s development because it helps them expand their knowledge and imaginations," said Senator Fuschillo, a member of the Senate’s Education Committee. "I’m very proud of these children for working extra hard this summer. Reading will greatly enhance benefit them throughout the rest of their lives."
As part of Senator Fuschillo’s "Summertime Reading Program", the students each read at least three books during the summer months and kept track of their progress using a record book. Once they completed the program, all of the students received a special certificate from the New York State Senate in recognition of their accomplishment.
This past summer, Senator Fuschillo distributed over 20,000 Summertime Reading packets to elementary schools and libraries throughout his district.
