Senator Fuschillo To Hold Prescription Drug Forum At Wantagh Library

Charles J. Fuschillo Jr.

Senator Charles J. Fuschillo, Jr. (8th Senate District) is inviting local senior citizens to a community meeting to learn how the New York State EPIC program can help reduce prescription drug costs.

The meeting will be held at the Wantagh Public Library, located at 3285 Park Avenue in Wantagh, on Thursday, August 11 at 1:30 pm. A representative from the EPIC program will be on hand to explain how the program works and answer questions from the audience.

The EPIC program is open to New York State residents ages 65 or older who have an annual income of $35,000 or less if single, or $50,000 or less if married. The plan covers almost all prescription medicines, both brand name and generic, as well as insulin, insulin syringes and needles. According to the New York State Department of Health, over 340,000 seniors already belong.

"Many seniors are unaware that the EPIC program can help them save money on their prescription drug costs, or are unsure if they qualify for it. This meeting will allow residents to hear directly from an EPIC representative about how the program works and ask questions," said Senator Fuschillo. "I encourage seniors to come to the meeting and learn about this cost saving program."

Residents who have any questions about the August 11th EPIC community meeting should call Senator Fuschillo’s office at 546-4100.
