Senator Fuschillo Joins Lindenhurst Students In Praising Project Adventure
Senator Charles J. Fuschillo, Jr. (8th Senate District) recently visited Lindenhurst Middle School to view a public exhibition of the Lindenhurst School District’s "Project Adventure" program.
The Lindenhurst School District initiated "Project Adventure" several years ago as a way to develop cooperative skills and character education among its students. The program uses games and challenging activities which require students to work together and use both their minds and bodies to find solutions. Last year, Senator Fuschillo provided the district with $10,000 in state grant funding to help offset the program’s operational costs.
"Senator Fuschillo’s visit to Lindenhurst Middle School on Friday, May 6th was a memorable occasion for all," said Cheryl Clifton, Director of Health, Physical Education, and Athletics for Lindenhurst Public Schools. "Project Adventure, which was made possible by funds from Senator Fuschillo, builds trust, self-esteem and awareness among children, and allows them to experience success through cooperative problem solving. This can be witnessed immediately upon entering the gym and watching the students work together."
"Project Adventure allows kids to learn about leadership and using teamwork in order to solve problems. It also enables them to develop both their mental and physical strengths and have fun while doing it," said Senator Fuschillo. "This program is a great educational tool for the Lindenhurst School District, and I enjoyed having the opportunity to watch it in action."
