Senator Fuschillo Secures State Grant For Freeport Library's Creative Arts Program
Senator Charles J. Fuschillo, Jr. (8th Senate District), a member of the Senate’s Education Committee, announced today that he has obtained $5,000 in state grant funding for the Freeport Memorial Library. The Library will use the funding to continue presenting its Creative Arts Program.
The Library’s Creative Arts Program, which began in 1998, offers young adults positive, educational, and fun workshops which allow them to explore the arts field. These programs, which include art, music, literature and theatre, give students an outlet to develop their creative skills right in their own hometown.
"We are extremely grateful for Senator Fuschillo’s continuing efforts to support the library and help us reach out to the teenagers of Freeport. These programs will help us to develop the future leaders of tomorrow," said Dave Opatow, Director of the Freeport Library.
"It is important for children to have the ability to explore their creativity and develop a passion for the arts, and the Freeport Library’s programs are providing them with a very convenient way to do that," said Senator Fuschillo. "I am happy that I could work with the Freeport Library to help them continue this worthwhile program."
