Senator Fuschillo Welcomes Women Of Distinction Honorees To His "legislative Update" Show

Senator Charles J. Fuschillo, Jr. (8th Senate District) proudly welcomed his 2005 Women of Distinction honorees, Town of Hempstead Councilwoman Angie Cullin and Merrick resident Gail Volk, as his guests on his weekly "Legislative Update" television show. The program will air on Friday, June 17 at 4:45 p.m. on Channel 18 of Cablevision’s Woodbury system.

In 1987, Angie Cullin became the first woman in the history of the Town of Hempstead to serve as member of the Town Board. She again made history in 1993 by becoming the first woman ever to hold the office of Receiver of Taxes. She returned to the Town Board in 2000 as the representative of the fifth councilmatic district, and was reelected again in 2003. In addition to her governmental service, Councilwoman Cullin belongs to a number of local charitable and civic organizations.

Gail Volk currently serves as Executive Director for the Community Wellness Council of the Bellmores and Merricks, a non profit organization whose mission is to promote substance abuse prevention by fostering emotional and physical wellness. She is also a Past President of the Child Care Council of Nassau County, a member of the New York State Department of Health’s Tobacco Control, Use, and Prevention Advisory Board. Ms. Volk is also very active in her local temple, organizing numerous charitable and philanthropic endeavors, such as Mitzvah Day and food programs for the needy.

Senator Fuschillo’s "Legislative Update" is a weekly program which provides viewers with an inside look at the workings of the New York State Legislature.
