Senator Fuschillo Wins State Grant For Freeport Pal

Charles J. Fuschillo Jr.

Senator Charles J. Fuschillo, Jr. (8th Senate) announced today that he has secured $15,000 in state grant funding for the Freeport Police Athletic League (PAL). The Freeport PAL will use these funds to offset the cost of purchasing a passenger van for travel teams.

"The Freeport PAL would like to thank Senator Fuschillo for his continued support," stated Mike Pomerico, Executive Director of Freeport PAL. "Without this support, Freeport PAL would not be able to provide the activities and programs that are so vital to the children of the Freeport community."

PAL is a program that is organized by the Nassau County Police Department. It is designed to prevent juvenile delinquency and aid in the development of good citizenship through positive interaction of police officers and children. The Freeport PAL is one of many PAL units across the County, and has a number of sports for young boys and girls to enjoy, including basketball, flag football, baseball, boxing, golf, lacrosse, soccer, rowing, and tennis.

"Youth leagues provide kids with a place to develop their love for sports and athletic talents, and allow them to learn the values of teamwork, fair play, and sportsmanship. It is important for young people to have access to these types of activities," said Senator Fuschillo. "By using this grant funding to purchase a passenger van, the Freeport PAL will be able to expand their travel sports programs, enabling more children to partake in these activities."
