Senator Dale M. Volker & Western New York Legislative Delegation Secures $300,000 For The Child Advocacy Center

Dale M. Volker

(Albany, NY) Senator Dale M. Volker (R-I-C, Depew) today, along with members of the Western New York Legislative Delegation, announced $300,000 for the Child Advocacy Center in Buffalo. These funds will be utilized to complement existing funding, and ensure the viability of this important health care program.

"The Child Advocacy Center is instrumental in providing a child-friendly setting in which to offer objective forensic interviews and sensitive medical exams in order to provide necessary evaluation for determining appropriate interventions," said Senator Dale M. Volker. "It’s crystal clear that our children are often the pawns of public policy and funding debates that take place among national, state and county leaders. Here is the case were hundreds of children in our communities, who are Medicaid recipients, are given the best possible medical care after surviving such a traumatic experience. Our Western New York Legislative Delegation continues to fight for what is right and just for our families, our children and our western New York communities."

Assembly Majority Leader Paul A. Tokasz said, "The Child Advocacy Center is truly a priceless resource for abused and neglected children in western New York. Not only will I continue to fight for Medicaid funding for these services, but I am proud that we care for the most vulnerable of our citizens."

The Child Advocacy Center provides medical assessments and coordinated care for sexually and physically abused children in our western New York region. The program currently provides over 1,000 exam annually, in which more than 80 percent are for Medicaid recipients. Additionally, The Child Advocacy Center plays a pivotal role in assisting law enforcement agencies located within the western New York region with the prosecution(s) of sexual and physical abuse criminal cases.
