Senator Farley Announces Over $1 Million In Combined Homeland Security Grants Awarded To Fulton, Montgomery, Saratoga And Schenectady Counties
State Senator Hugh T. Farley (R,C - Schenectady) is proud to join Governor George E. Pataki in announcing over $1 million was awarded to the 44th Senatorial District -- which includes Fulton, Montgomery, Saratoga and Schenectady Counties -- through the federal Department of Homeland Security to help the area prepare and be equipped for any possible emergency.
"Government agencies, nonprofit groups and businesses have joined together over the past several years to inform the public of steps they can take to prepare themselves for emergency situations," Senator Farley said. "Counties have been running drills to make sure staff are prepared for massive problems. This funding will help them ensure their skills are honed and they have the necessary tools available to them to do their jobs efficiently and effectively."
Fulton and Montgomery Counties are each slated to receive $95,000 while Saratoga County was awarded $275,000 and Schenectady will receive $575,000 through the state Homeland Security Program and Law Enforcement Terrorism Prevention Program grants.
