Senator Farley Announces Toll-free Fall Foliage Phone Number

Hugh T. Farley

State Senator Hugh T. Farley (R,C - Schenectady) announces New York State has a toll-free hotline for "leaf-peepers," people who enjoy seeing the leaves change to their beautiful autumn colors.

"New York State is home to a variety of trees, and this region boasts some beautiful fall foliage," Senator Farley said. "One of the reasons New York State has such terrific fall colors is that it has a wide variety of broad-leaved trees. Sugar Maple, American Beech, American Hornbeam, American Mountain Ash, Bitternut Hickory, and Black Walnut are a few of the many that change into beautiful and bright browns, oranges and reds. By calling this toll-free number, travelers will know where to look for the best colors."

The phone number is (800) CALL-NYS (225-5697) and each week it is updated to give the latest leaf-peeping hot spots in New York State. The state website, www.iloveny.com/fall/pages/, also gives weekly reports on where the best "leaf-peeping" spots are.

"Keep checking back for Fulton, Montgomery, Saratoga and Schenectady counties are just changing and we will soon be treated to a beautiful range of colors," Senator Farley said. Generally, the peak times for our region is the last two weeks in September and the first two weeks in October, Senator Farley added.
