State Senator Hugh T. Farley (R,C - Schenectady) stays committed to his efforts to help area organizations by continuing to use his offices as drop-off points for eyeglasses, cell phones and old American flags.

"Since my District Offices opened in 2001, I have offered to collect used eyeglasses and hearing aids for local chapters of the Lions International Club, cell phones for domestic violence survivors and senior citizens, and old and torn American flags for proper disposal," Senator Farley said. "This holiday season, my offices will collect items for local food pantries, but will also continue to collect the glasses, phones and flags year-round."

Senator Farley has given Lions Club chapters in Fulton and Montgomery Counties over 10,000 pairs of eyeglasses and three dozen hearing aids which were donated by constituents. The Lions Clubs International are recognized worldwide for their service to the blind and visually impaired.

Over the past two years, Senator Farley has given the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office several dozen cell phones for the department’s program of offering senior citizens a free cell phone and training on how to use them. Also, in recognition of Domestic Violence Awareness Month, Senator Farley has donated two dozen used wireless telephones that he collected to Rape Crisis Service of Fulton & Montgomery Counties to help assist survivors of domestic violence.
