Senator Farley Places Friendly Wager On Upcoming Amsterdam Rams Game

Hugh T. Farley

State Senator Hugh T. Farley (R,C - Schenectady) and State Senator Michael F. Nozzolio (R-Fayette) have agreed upon a friendly wager on this weekend’s Class A State championship football game between the Amsterdam Rams and the Geneva High School Panthers. The championship game is this Saturday, November 26th, at 5 p.m. at the Syracuse Carrier Dome.

"Amsterdam has a great winning tradition on the gridiron and I fully expect the Rams to be victorious. These kids grow up teething on footballs and I believe their hard work and dedication throughout the years will pay off once the two teams take the field this Saturday," said Senator Farley.

If Geneva loses, Senator Nozzolio will give Senator Farley a bushel of his region's Red Jacket Apples. Senator Farley's part of the wager is a basket of goods which reflect Amsterdam's multicultural society. The basket includes polish sausage, local pizza sauce and peppermint sticks. A Latino music CD showcasing Amsterdam resident and famous musician Alex Torres will also be included.

According to Senator Nozzolio, "The Geneva Panthers avenged their only loss of the season last week by defeating previously unbeaten Corning East in dramatic fashion 26 to 14 and are headed to the Class A State football championship. I look forward to cheering on the Panthers as they will undoubtedly prove that they are a better team against the Amsterdam Rams."

"I am confident Senator Nozzolio is wrong," Senator Farley responded. "Organizations such as the Amsterdam Little Giants prepared these players in grade school and the terrific high school coaches perfected that training. Those kids have been preparing for the big game all their lives, and I wish them well in the championship game."
