Senator Farley Salutes Trish Smith Of Schenectady

Senator Farley salutes Trish Smith of Schenectady with a NYS Senate Citation. Ms. Smith, age 14, is the 2005 Youth of the Year for the Boys and Girls Clubs of Schenectady.

Ms. Smith is a member of the Yates Village unit and has been an active participant for the past five years. Ms. Smith says, "I come to the Club because it allows me to explore both my inter- and inner-personalities. Inter in that I am able to assist others with problems ranging from homework, Power Hour, to answer questions related to maturation, SMART kids. I enjoy helping the other members with their struggles. The Club allows me to explore my inner personality by helping me discover who I am and develop myself. The Club and its staff have taught me how to look into myself for answers and to just keep trying."

Ms. Smith hope to peruse a career as a chemical engineer and has thought about attending either Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, MIT or Georgia Tech in the future.

Senator Farley said of Ms. Smith, "As a young teen, she sought guidance and direction, and found a caring support system at the Yates Village Boys & Girls Club. Now she helps other youths in that organization. She is truly an amazing young woman who will definitely go far in life."
