Senator Farley Suggests Constituents Prepare For Flu Season

State Senator Hugh T. Farley (R,C - Schenectady) said influenza (flu) season is from late fall through March. Since it is now fall, Senator Farley suggests that constituents consider getting vaccinated for the flu.

"Health officials say the elderly, very young children and pregnant women are at a higher risk of getting the flu," Senator Farley said. "It starts off with a fever, sore throat, cough and aches, and sometimes can develop into a deadly situation."

Senator Farley said the New York State Office for the Aging has a website, http://www.flu.state.ny.us/, dedicated to flu information which posts a list of vaccination clinics.

According to this website, the following flu vaccination clinics are available in Fulton County:

* Columbus Day, Oct. 10th, from 10 am. to 2 p.m., at Eckerd Drug Store, 172 N. Main St., Gloversville;

* Nov. 5th, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., at Eckerd Drug Store, 238 N. Comrie Ave., Johnstown;

* Nov. 7th, from 3 to 7 p.m., at Hannaford grocery store, 235 Fifth Ave. Ext., Gloversville.
