Cobleskill Native Named To State Post

State Senator James L. Seward today announced the appointment of Seth R. Lamont of Albany as counsel to the Senate Insurance Committee. Lamont is a graduate of Cobleskill High School.

Lamont clerked for the state Insurance Department and is a former appellate court attorney for the Appellate Division, Third Department. He comes to the Senate from the state Consumer Protection Board, where as assistant counsel he represented the CPB before the Public Service Commission and drafted departmental legislation, among other responsibilities.

"Seth Lamont will be a great addition to the Senate and the Insurance Committee," Seward said. "I look forward to working with him as we address the variety of issues the committee will face this year, from auto insurance fraud to the affordability of health insurance. He comes well equipped to handle the challenges of the committee."

Lamont is a graduate of Hamilton College and Albany Law School. He is the son of Hon. and Mrs. Dan Lamont of Cobleskill.
