Seward Announces Kalkberg Park Grant
At a press conference in Catskill today State Senator James L. Seward announced a $100,000 state grant to assist with infrastructure development for the Greene County IDA's Kalkberg Commerce Park and Serta project. Seward was joined by IDA, county, town and village officials at the announcement.
"My hat's off to the leadership of Greene County for their efforts in bringing jobs to Greene County," Senator Seward said. "The recent announcement and opening of the Serta Mattress Company in the Kalkberg Park demonstrate that the county is succeeding in its goal to develop its economic potential. We look forward to the plant's full operation and its 240 employees working here at full tilt.
"Working together -- state, IDA, county, town and village leaders -- we have advanced the ball, and today's announcement is another step forward in making the commerce park a desirable place to open a business," Seward added.
The $100,000 will contribute toward $1.8 million in state and local costs in site improvements, including construction of an access point to the park on Route 9W and associated road improvements. It will facilitate the availability of an additional 500,000 square feet of new business space.
The funding comes from the state's community capital assistance program, and is administered by the state's economic development office.
