Bonacic Announces Main Street Grants For Projects

State Senator John J. Bonacic (R/I/C - Mount Hope), Chairman of the Senate Committee on Housing and Community Development announced today that $400,000 in State funding has been awarded for two downtown revitalization projects; one in Ulster County and one in Sullivan County.

Senator Bonacic stated, "I have long been a proponent of the State's Main Street Program. The awarding of these grants is good news for the people of our region. The State's investment in revitalizing more downtown areas will bring economic vitality and improve the quality of life for our residents."

The New York State Main Street program, which is administered by the Division of Housing and Community Renewal and the Housing Trust Fund Corporation, provides matching grants for facade and interior building renovations, streetscape enhancements, landscaping and signage and to install street furniture, and for communities to establish a business or cultural anchor in their downtown.

Senator Bonacic said $200,000 in funding was awarded to Bethel LDC in Sullivan County and $200,000 was awarded to the Rural Ulster Preservation Company. Both organizations will utilize the grants for building renovations and streetscape enhancements.
