Golden Seeks Traffic Safety Enhancements For Community Pedestrians And Vehicles

State Senator Marty Golden (R-C-I, 22nd District) today has announced that he has made numerous requests to the Department of Transportation to secure traffic safety enhancements to insure the safety of both pedestrians and vehicles throughout the community.

Senator Golden has requested the installation of "No Truck" signs to be installed on 8th Avenue between 65th Street and 73rd Street and on Ridge Boulevard between 75th Street and 86th Street at the request of local residents. Senator Golden has been contacted by residents of both 8th Avenue and Ridge Boulevard as a result of the heavy volume of trucks using both avenues causing damage to their homes and causing a hazard to the residents, pedestrians and vehicular traffic.

Senator Golden has also requested the installation of a "Turning Signal" at the intersection of 86th Street and Fort Hamilton Parkway in an effort to insure the safety of both pedestrians and vehicles at this busy intersection. Golden and local residents believe that the installation of this signal will make crossing the street at this corner much safer for all.

Senator Golden stated, "I continue to work with the community and the Department of Transportation to make our community a better place to live, work and raise a family. We must keep our streets safe for both pedestrians and vechicular traffic. Keeping dangerous trucks off of our residential streets is one way to do just that. And furthermore, installing turning signals, which will allow for residents easier crossing, is another important approach. I am hopeful that the Department of Transportation approves these requests."
