Golden Sponsors Free Senior Van Service For Community

Brooklyn- State Senator Martin J. Golden (R-C-I, 22nd District) today is announcing that on Tuesday, November 1, 2005, the Golden-Harbor Loop Bus will resume service and operate along 3rd and 5th Avenue free of charge to help the senior citizens of this community get around this community to do their shopping, to get to their doctor appointments, and to get to area senior centers and events.

The Golden-Harbor Loop Bus was suspended at the end of the summer as the schedule was revised. The Golden-Harbor Loop Bus is made possible by funds provided by State Senator Marty Golden, the Economic Development Corporation and the New York City Department for the Aging. The Loop Bus is operated by Pete and Sal’s Harbor View Transportation under contract to the Bay Ridge and Bensonhurst Beautification and Preservation Alliance Inc.

The Golden-Harbor Loop Bus operates Monday through Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until 6:00 p.m. The route begins at 100th Street and Fort Hamilton Parkway, by the Fort Hamilton Senior Center, and makes stops in regular City bus stops along both 3rd and 5th Avenue.

Senator Golden, Chairman of the Senate Aging Committee stated, "I am so proud to see this service return to our streets which has made a difference in the quality of life of the senior citizens throughout this neighborhood. I encourage ridership and hope that it will be utilized by many as an easier mode of transportation which is safe, clean and free and allows you to keep your car home and saves the worries of parking. I thank Harbor View Transportation for doing such a fine job in providing this service."
