Home Extension On Ridge Boulevard Raises Concerns Of Neighbors Sparking Golden To Seek Attention Of Buildings Department

Brooklyn- Residents surrounding a home located at 8901 Ridge Boulevard contacted Senator Marty Golden (R-C-I, 22nd District) this week and brought to his attention the their concerns related to the construction of a third floor at this property, sparking Golden to contact the Buildings Department asking for their attention.

The New York City Department of Buildings has issued a 10-day letter to the owner mandating that all work is stopped pending a meeting with Buildings officials to review and modify their plans. The current plans seek to build a third-floor totaling 1041 square feet. The 10-Day Letter sent October 24, 2005 by the Department of Buildings cites reason for revocation as "...conformance with zoning amendments of March 23, 2005 must be shown."

Senator Marty Golden, who led the fight against overdevelopment in this community working with Mayor Michael Bloomberg and the City Planning Commission stated, "The eyes of this community are open and will remain diligent against efforts to overbuild on our streets and throughout this community, and I thank the neighbors for bringing this matter to my attention. I applaud the Buildings Department for their swift action to halt further construction at this site which would be out of character on this block."

Senator Golden urges local residents to contact his office if they believe construction is out of scale on their blocks.
