Senator Nozzolio Announces $16,000 Grant For Village Of Bloomfield

Albany – Continuing his efforts to help revitalize our communities, New York State Senator Michael F. Nozzolio (R-Fayette) today announced that the Village of Bloomfield has been awarded a $16,000 Technical Assistance (TA) grant through Governor George Pataki’s Office for Small Cities (GOSC) Community Development Program.

The TA funding is provided to eligible communities for strategic plans aimed at specific community development goals and objectives.

“It is critically important that we continue to make investments in our communities,” Senator Nozzolio said. “This Small Cities grant will help Bloomfield make improvements on its business district and enhance economic development in the Village. I applaud Governor Pataki for his support of our local communities and am pleased that Bloomfield was awarded this necessary funding,” Senator Nozzolio concluded.

The Village of Bloomfield will receive $16,000 to assist in planning for the revitalization of its business district by attracting small businesses to vacant storefronts, improving the appearance of downtown properties, encouraging the redevelopment of abandoned industrial eyesores, and recruiting new companies to underutilized commercial Main Street sites.

The GOSC provides funding to eligible towns, villages and cities with a population under 50,000 people, and counties with a population of less than 200,000 people, for various housing, economic development, public facilities and mixed-use projects that improve the overall quality of life for residents of the communities.
