Senator Nozzolio Announces Small Cities Grants For The Village Of Lyons And Wayne County
Albany – Continuing his efforts to help revitalize our communities, New York State Senator Michael F. Nozzolio (R-Fayette) today announced that the Village of Lyons and Wayne County have been awarded Technical Assistance (TA) grants through Governor George Pataki’s Office for Small Cities (GOSC) Community Development Program. The Village of Lyons and Wayne County will both receive $15,000 in funding.
The TA funding is provided to eligible communities for strategic plans aimed at specific community development goals and objectives.
“It is critically important that we continue to make investments in our communities,” Senator Nozzolio said. “These Small Cities grants will help Lyons and Wayne County make improvements to enhance their economic development efforts. I applaud Governor Pataki for his support of our local communities and am pleased that Lyons and Wayne County were awarded this necessary funding,” Senator Nozzolio concluded.
The Village of Lyons will receive $15,000 to develop a strategic plan that will focus on revitalizing the downtown Main Street area. Wayne County will also receive $15,000 to complete a strategic plan that will tie together the goals of individual towns and villages in the county to maximize the use of acreage within the area’s designated Empire Zone.
The GOSC provides funding to eligible towns, villages and cities with a population under 50,000 people, and counties with a population of less than 200,000 people, for various housing, economic development, public facilities and mixed-use projects that improve the overall quality of life for residents of the communities.
