Senator Nozzolio Participates In Groundbreaking Event For New Production Facility In Webster
Webster- Senator Nozzolio today joined Lieutenant Governor Mary Donohue, community leaders and executives from Xerox Corporation at the groundbreaking of the company’s new EA Toner Plant. The global document solutions leader plans to construct and equip a 120,000 square foot plant in Webster, Monroe County that will produce next-generation toner. The $59 million project is expected to lead to the creation of 40 new full-time jobs and the retention of 50.
“I am proud to have worked to secure state resources to make this project a reality and create jobs in the Town of Webster,” said Senator Nozzolio. “The new EA Toner Plant further solidifies the presence of Xerox in Webster and is important to the strengthening of our regional economy. I would like to thank Governor Pataki for his leadership and efforts in ensuring that this fortune 500 company continues their long tradition of manufacturing cutting edge products in New York State.”
Lieutenant Governor Mary Donohue said, “I congratulate Xerox Corporation on its decision to build this state-of-the-art plant in Webster. Thanks to the efforts of Governor Pataki, Senator Nozzolio and Xerox, jobs will be created and retained in an area where the workforce is second to none.
Xerox, founded in 1906 in Rochester, NY as The Haloid Company, and which became Xerox Corporation in 1961, provides document solutions, services, and systems (digital presses, copiers, faxes, printers, scanners, etc.) to the financial services, graphic arts, health care, government, and industrial sectors around the globe. The new plant will produce emulsion aggregate (EA) toner, which represents a breakthrough in toner technology. EA toner is chemically grown from the molecular level to precise shapes and sizes, eliminating the grinding and selection process required to make traditional toner. It requires less energy to manufacture and generates less waste.
Empire State Development Chairman Charles A. Gargano said, “This project marks another victory for New York State. Jobs will be created and saved, our economy will be strengthened, and our workforce and families will benefit.”
In consideration of its commitment to New York State, Xerox Corporation is eligible to apply to Empire State Development for a $500,000 Convertible Loan and a $100,000 Training Grant. Additional assistance offered includes a $250,000 member item from Senator Nozzolio, a 10-year property tax break from Monroe County, a discounted electric rate and a utility infrastructure grant from Rochester Gas & Electric, and a possible grant from NYSERDA’s New Construction program.
"Xerox, which was founded in Rochester nearly 100 years ago, maintains strong roots in the community and I thank them for their commitment and investment,” concluded Nozzolio.
