Senator Dale M. Volker Secures $35,000 For Western New York Council On Occupational Safety And Health

Senator Dale M. Volker (R-C-I, Depew) today announced that he has secured funding in the amount of $35,000 within the adopted 2005-2006 New York State Budget, for the Western New York Council on Occupational Safety and Health (WNYCOSH) to improve workers safety and assist businesses with lowering their Worker’s Compensation costs.

"There is an enormous demand for preventative and occupational safety and health services for our workers in Western New York," stated Senator Dale M. Volker. "I have worked with WNYCOSH for many years and the need to assist our workforce with proven and innovative programs has saved substantial money for employers, and most importantly, has better protected our workforce from occupational injuries. We all know that health care costs are significant to both the employer and employee. With the implementation of proven programs, especially ergonomic programs, the reduction of injuries have been significant and translate to healthier employees and a better "bottom line" for the company as it relates to Workers Compensation costs."

For the past several years, Senator Volker has secured funding in the state budget for WNYCOSH, and this has allowed us to maintain staffing levels and to carry out our mission of improving the lives of western New York’s workforce and the businesses that they are employed by. "

The $35,000 secured by Senator Dale M. Volker will provide the Western New York Council of Occupation Safety and Health with the financial resources to continue promoting workplace safety and health programs to reduce workplace injuries and to provide many businesses within western New York to remain competitive, improve worker performance and the ability to reduce their Workers’ Compensation costs.
