Calhoun High School Students Discuss Drunk Driving Laws With Senator Fuschillo

Charles J. Fuschillo Jr.

Senator Charles J. Fuschillo, Jr. (8th Senate District) was recently invited to Calhoun High School by students in Ms. Borzone’s participation in government class to talk about ways to prevent drunk driving.

During his visit with the class, Senator Fuschillo discussed some of the new laws enacted by the state to take drunk drivers off the road. He also discussed some of the proposals that are being considered in the legislature dealing with drinking and driving.

Students then debated the merits of each of the proposals and offered some of their own ideas for new drunk driving laws. Afterwards, they had the opportunity to ask Senator Fuschillo questions.

"The class felt very strongly about the need to keep drunk drivers off the road. They had some very interesting ideas for combating drunk driving in our state, and showed great understanding and insight about the issue," said Senator Fuschillo, author of New York State’s ".08" law.
