Senator Fuschillo Presents Amelia Earhart Award To Mepham Student

Charles J. Fuschillo Jr.

Senator Charles J. Fuschillo, Jr. (8th Senate District) was joined by Assemblyman David G. McDonough (19th Assembly District) and Nassau County Legislator David Denenberg (19th Legislative District) in presenting the Amelia Earhart Award to Timothy Beuth, a Bellmore resident who will be entering his senior year at Mepham High School.

"Timothy has worked very hard to attain this achievement. Earning this award clearly demonstrates his dedication and leadership skills, and is an indicator of the many great things he will accomplish in the future. We are all very proud of this fine young man," said Senator Fuschillo.

The Amelia Earhart Award is given by the Civil Air Patrol (CAP), which is the official Auxiliary of the United States Air Force. The award is the third milestone in the CAP’s cadet program, and is earned after completing the first eleven achievements of the cadet program and receipt of the General Billy Mitchell Award. In addition, the cadet must pass an arduous 100 question examination testing aerospace topics, leadership theory and staff topics.

CAP’s cadet program trains young men and women in teamwork, moral leadership, aerospace education, technical skills to support emergency services, and military history and customs. Through national encampments, a college and flight training scholarship program, and the International Air Cadet Exchange, CAP cadets broaden their horizons, learn to assume responsibility, feel self-confidence and set goals for their lives.
