Skelos Announces Confirmation Of Hewlett Harbor Resident Merik R. Aaron As Nassau County Family Court Judge

New York State Senate Deputy Majority Leader Dean G. Skelos (R-Rockville Centre) announced that on June 20, 2006, the New York State Senate confirmed the nomination of Hewlett Harbor resident Merik R. Aaron as Judge of the Nassau County Family Court. Prior to his confirmation, Judge Aaron was Principal Deputy Town Attorney for the Town of Hempstead.

"I am very proud that such a great person and Hewlett Harbor resident will now be a Judge in the Nassau County Family Court," said Senator Skelos. "Merik is a good friend, and his background as an educator makes him an outstanding addition to the Family Court. The children of Nassau County will greatly benefit with Judge Aaron presiding."

After graduating from Long Island University with a degree in education, Judge Aaron received his Masters in Counseling Psychology, Certificate of Advanced Studies, Professorial Diploma and his Doctorate in Education. Judge Aaron later earned his Juris Doctor from Touro College’s Jacob Fuchberg Law Center and was admitted to the New York State Bar. Judge Aaron has extensive experience in education administration and teaching and has practiced law in the private sector.

Judge Aaron has been very active in his community of Hewlett Harbor and the legal community, dedicating his time to many different activities. He has also been published for articles focusing on education and has made numerous presentations throughout the country dealing with education administration and school safety.
