Skelos Meets With Mentoring Partnership Of Long Island And Local Residents
On January 24th, Senator Dean G. Skelos (R-Rockville Centre) met with representatives from the Mentoring Partnership of Long Island at his office in the State Capitol. Specifically,Senator Skelos met with Inwood resident Rose Furcron-Harris of the Lawrence School District’s Mentoring Program, Rockville Centre resident Alicia James and Jule Richards from Sista Girls Fit 2 Play Mentoring and Jean Cohen, Executive Director of the Mentoring Partnership of Long Island.
Sista Girls Fit 2 Play is a non-for profit sports and fitness mentoring program for girls who reside in underserved communities. Since 2004, the program has provided positive sports and fitness related opportunities and promoted health education.
The Mentoring Partnership of Long Island is a resource for mentors and mentoring initiatives and an advocate for the expansion of mentoring region-wide. They help organizations with recruiting and training mentors through their Mentoring Academy.
