Skelos Met With Jazz Legend Dave Brubeck At State Capitol
New York State Senate Deputy Majority Leader Dean G. Skelos (R-Rockville Centre) met with legendary Jazz musician and composer Dave Brubeck at the State Capitol in Albany. Mr. Brubeck was honored by the State Senate with a resolution paying tribute to his stellar career and outstanding achievements. Mr. Brubeck will be performing at the Saratoga Performing Arts Center’s 2006 Jazz Festival as part of his yearlong 85th birthday celebration.
Dave Brubeck began his musical career at a very young age and quickly became a master at his craft. He received extensive training in musicianship and composition throughout the early stages of his career. Mr. Brubeck created one of the most extraordinary and accomplished jazz groups ever, the Dave Brubeck Quartet, which was the first jazz group to sell over one million copies of their acclaimed LP Time Out. Throughout the decades, Dave Brubeck has been at the top of his profession playing for every American president since John F. Kennedy as well as composing and performing music for the Papal visit in 1987. Dave Brubeck is an ambassador of jazz and his talent will long serve as a standard to which others might aspire.
Senator Skelos was honored to meet with such a brilliant musician who revolutionized the American art form known as jazz.
