Skelos Tests Lower Decibel Lirr Horn In Cedarhurst

Dean G. Skelos

Following the test, Senator Skelos and the LIRR will gauge the community’s response to the Wayside Horn test. If Cedarhurst’s residents prefer the Wayside Horn, Senator Skelos and the LIRR will work to secure funding for these new devices.

“We need to know the community’s reaction to this test. I encourage everyone to get involved and let the LIRR know if it’s an improvement over the existing horns,” said Councilman Darcy.

Last June, the Federal Railroad Administration issued new regulations requiring longer, more frequent use of the train horn to alert the public of potential danger and prevent accidents.
